WILDER, Ky. (WKRC) – A man was found unresponsive on the banks of the Licking River on Tuesday after he was said to have attempted swimming across the river.
The Covington Fire Department, using a rescue boat, retrieved the man. Wilder Medics transported the 56-year-old to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Ft. Thomas, where he was pronounced dead.
Wilder Police and medics said they had a “difficult time” reaching the man due to the wooded area around the river bank.
Police said a witness told them the man was trying to swim across the river, and possibly inhaled water or experienced another medical problem during his attempt.
Police have not revealed the man’s identity.
