BOONE COUNTY, Ky. —

Traffic is at a crawl on Interstate 71/75 in Northern Kentucky following a crash involving a semitruck.

The crash happened just before 3 a.m. Wednesday in the northbound lanes of the highway at mile marker 174 near Chambers Road in Walton.

The crash briefly closed all northbound lanes, and several southbound lanes. As of 7:30 a.m., just one lane remains closed in each direction.

Officials with Boone County dispatch say one person was transported to an area hospital. That person’s condition is unknown.

Looking for a detour? Northbound drivers should branch off to eastbound Kentucky Route 14, turn left and take northbound Dixie Highway. Next, turn right to return to northbound Interstate 71/75.

Southbound drivers should remain patient, as lanes are slowly reopening.
