Conner High School mourns the loss of one of its graduates as another man faces charges for his death.

Lamail Borders, 19, of Hebron, died when the Chevrolet Malibu he was riding in with three others crashed. According to the Boone County Sheriff, the car careened off Camp Ernst Road early Monday and traveled through two front yards, struck a tree, continued through a wooded line before finally coming to rest in a backyard in the 2000 block of Bluestem Drive in Burlington.

“Conner lost a great friend and teammate today,” reads a tweet from Conner Track/XC. “Lamail Borders, class of 2018, school record holder in the 100m, 200m, and 2-time region champion, died early this morning in a car wreck. We’ll miss you, friend.”
